As part of its academic year announcement for 2025/2026, the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MEB), listed all the school holidays for the upcoming year for students and families. As you would expect, the 2025/2026 academic year will include two short mid-term breaks and one semester-long holiday. All three breaks provide much-needed relaxation and travel opportunities for students.
The 2025 / 2026 academic year started on Monday, September 8, 2025, and the first short break is just around the corner. The first mid-term break will run from Monday, November 10, 2025 until Friday, November 14, 2025, giving students nine consecutive days of relaxation.
Because of the fall timing of this mid-term break, it is ideal for relaxing indoors, catching up on reading, or taking a few day trip(s) to nearby cities to rejuvenate prior to returning to class for the remainder of the first semester.
The first semester concludes on Friday, January 17, 2026; the semester holiday, which takes place from January 19th to January 30th, 2026, provides students with an additional fourteen days of study time and mental preparation for the second semester.
During this fourteen-day holiday, students can plan a family winter vacation, attend cultural events such as museum exhibits, art galleries, or children’s workshops, and/or engage in other leisurely pursuits. In addition to offering students a chance to “get away,” the break provides ample time for them to relax, evaluate their academic performance and make plans to perform better academically in the coming semester.
Following the conclusion of the first month of the Spring semester and several busy weeks, students will receive their third short break from Monday, March 16, 2026, to Friday, March 20, 2026.
This mid-term break occurs right at the beginning of spring and is a perfect time for students to participate in outdoor activities, picnic outings, or to visit family members in rural areas to experience the beauty of nature. Additionally, including both weekend days in this time frame provides students with nine days to rest and renew themselves.
The 2025/2026 school year will come to a close on Friday, June 26, 2026, marking the beginning of a long-awaited two and one-half-month summer break.
