We have left a long winter behind, the first blooms have fallen, and nature is saying, "I woke up, now it's your turn!" The 2026 Ramadan Feast, coinciding with the refreshing energy of spring, is a golden opportunity to escape the gray concrete of the city and get your fill of blue and green.

We can almost hear you asking, "But where can we go in such a short time, how do we get there, and how can we enjoy a holiday without being miserable on the road?" No need to worry! As DailyDrive editors, we opened the map, calculated the traffic, marked the flavor stops, and prepared two different point-shot Ramadan Feast holiday routes just for you.

Whether you say "I have little time but want lots of joy" or "I got the leave, I'm heading south"; fasten your seatbelts, we are creating our route!

Before Hitting the Road: Strategic Moves

Setting off during the feast is a bit like playing chess. If you make the right move at the right time, you can enjoy the holiday without suffering the traffic ordeal.

  • The Golden Rule (Timing): The "great escape" begins in the afternoon of Eve Day (March 19, Thursday). Act strategically; either turn the ignition key on Wednesday evening at the end of the shift or hit the road before dawn (around 05:00 - 06:00) on Thursday morning.
  • The Right Road Companion (Vehicle Selection):
    • If you are a nuclear family or planning a romantic route with your spouse, look for options that combine comfort and fuel economy on long roads. For gliding over the asphalt, be sure to check out the options on our sedan car rental page.
    • If you say, "We are a crowd, we have lots of luggage, maybe we will wander around mountains and hills," then you need both a spacious interior and high driving pleasure. Then your route is clear: SUV car rental options are just for you.

Scenario 1: "Little Time, Lots of Peace" (3-Day North Aegean Route)

For those with limited time, a route based on the principle of "lots of road, little fatigue"; plenty of oxygen, epic scenery. Destination: The capital of mythology and olives, Mount Ida (Kaz Mountains).

  • Driving Time: Approximately 4.5 - 5 hours from Istanbul via Osmangazi Bridge.
  • Road Condition: Mostly highway and divided roads. A comfortable drive awaits you.

Route Stops

  1. Adatepe Village and Zeus Altar: Start the day with a hackberry coffee (çitlembik kahvesi) in the village square among stone houses. Then walk to the Altar of Zeus. According to mythology, Zeus watched the Trojan War from here. When you see the view, you will say "Zeus knew what he was doing." The entire Gulf of Edremit is under your feet!
  2. Assos Ancient Harbor and Temple of Athena: Climb up the narrow and stone streets of Behramkale (a bit steep but worth it) to see the Temple of Athena. In March, the sunset here is beautiful enough to make Instagram filters jealous. In the evening, enjoy fish at the ancient harbor.
  3. Troy Museum: On the way back, do not skip this museum, which has collected Europe's most prestigious awards. It offers not only history but also an architectural feast.
  • Flavor Stop: Since spring has arrived, the kid goat season is open. It is forbidden to return without eating the region's famous Kid Goat Tandoori (Oğlak Tandır) or tasting Stuffed Zucchini Flowers made with Aegean herbs!
  • Plan B (If Weather Turns): March weather can be unpredictable. If it rains, take shelter in the boutique hotels with fireplaces in Adatepe or Yeşilyurt village, and have a "cool" holiday with your book and coffee.

Scenario 2: "Those Who Bring Spring Early" (5-Day Lycian Route)

For the lucky ones who combine the Eve day with leave and catch a 4-5 day block, we are turning the route south. Target: Turquoise waters and history.

  • Driving Time: Average 7 - 8 hours from Istanbul.
  • Road Condition: After Izmir, the winding and enjoyable Muğla roads begin. If you have a powerful SUV underneath you, these roads turn into driving pleasure.

Route Stops

  1. Dalyan and Kaunos: This place is like a movie set. Hop on a boat and glide through the reeds to Iztuzu Beach. When you see the Kaunos King Tombs carved into the rocks opposite, we are sure you will say "How did they do this?"
  2. Ghost Village Kayaköy: Cross over to Fethiye and take a walk in Kayaköy, consisting of hundreds of stone houses abandoned during the population exchange period. It has a sad but fascinating atmosphere.
  3. Saklıkent Canyon: A little adrenaline! In March, the canyon waters are gushing and ice-cold. Sit on the wooden platforms at the entrance of the canyon and witness the power of nature.
  • Flavor Stop: While you are in Dalyan, you must taste the region's trademark Blue Crab. If you are not into seafood, the pancake (gözleme) makers on the village roads are waiting for you.
  • Plan B (Crowd Risk): Fethiye center might be a bit chaotic during the feast. If you want to escape the crowd, rent a daily boat in the quiet bays of Göcek or turn your route to isolated bungalows on the Faralya side.

Life-Saving Tips for Families with Children

If there is a choir in the back seat singing "Are we there yet?", these car holiday tips will save lives:

  1. Break Strategy: The "Oksijen" facilities on the highway are now like shopping malls. Mark the facilities with playgrounds in advance. Take a 15-minute "energy release" break every 2 hours.
  2. Luggage Tetris: A holiday with kids means "carrying half the household items." Strollers, toys, spare clothes... That's exactly why a spacious vehicle is a must. The models on our SUV car rental page are designed for you to win the luggage tetris.
  3. Entertainment Package: Have tablets charged and snacks ready. Interactive places like the Troy Museum or the turtle hospital in Iztuzu will also attract the attention of children.

As the DailyDrive family; we wish you a wonderful holiday spent with your loved ones, with joy and safety, one that you will say "I'm glad we went". Have a safe trip and a holiday as sweet as candy!
